The Free Style Writing Challenge!

So I have been nominated for a very interesting writing challenge by Impeccable’mua. I adore her blog. It is so so so interesting and her thoughts are beautiful. She is an intelligent blogger and a mother to a beautiful baby 🙂 Please do visit her amazing blog. This post sure has been long due!

The concept of free style writing revolves around the central idea of putting down words that may or may not relate to a particular topic and within a certain time period regardless of spelling or perhaps also grammar. .

So here goes the RULES of this challenge:

1) Open an MS Word document

2) Set a stop watch or your mobile to 5 minutes or 10 minutes whichever challenge you think you can beat.

3) You topic is at the foot of this post. But do not scroll down to see it until you are ready with the timer

4) Fill the word doc with as much words as you want. Once you began writing do not stop even to turn. Do not cheat by going back and correcting spellings and grammar with spell check in MS WORD.

5) You may or may not pay attention to punctuation and capitals. However if you do, it would be best.

6) At the end of your post write down ‘No. Of words =_____’ so that we would have an idea of how much you can write within the time frame.

7) Do not forget to copy paste the entire passage on your blog post with a new Topic for your nominees and copy paste these rules with your nominations (at least 5 bloggers).

Time- 5mins

TV today has become a common household matter. It is surprising to see how people are addicted to it. It has both positive and negative aspects . wherein in positive, we may consider it as a good source of knowledge. We have channels that educate you, such as fox life , discovery, national geographic , history etc. So whilst sitting at home, I am able to travel all over the world and enjoy all sorts of cuisine. Alhamdulillah.

However, I see that today it is more of a vice. In the Indian scenario, mostly people today are addicted to daily soaps. They are rightly called soaps for all they do is brainwashing. Women are stereotyped in it and no matter how the plot begins, it eventually reaches a stage where the vamo wants revenge from the main protagonist and is after her life all day.

On the other hand, we also have news channels which are good to watch and the media also has its both pros and con’s. Depends on what you watch. Today we see that media has a major role in framing our thoghtb process. Thi, the world today is a global community. No country is really far.

However I feel the quality of life has come down. People have become couch potatoes and do not interact with their folks. Which is sad because it affects relations and harms our social skulks. We need to lean how to get off the addiction and

Allergic to E Challenge

I was nominated for the Allergic to ‘E’ Challenge by my co-blogger Transcend. It is a beautiful blog and I insist that you must have a read through. Thank you so much. This seems to be a bit hard to crack challenge and I sure am feeling a bit apprehensive. For the sake of fun, let’s do it 🙂

First, here are the rules for this challenge:

1) Write a whole paragraph ( a paragraph sounds easy right?) without any word containing the letter “e” (still easy for ya?)
2) By reading this you are already signed up.
3) Challenge at least five bloggers to do the challenge. They must do it within 24 hours or it is considered as failure.
4) If you fail or pass, suffer in the Page of Lame.
5) If you win, wallow in the Page of Fame.
6) You can check your standings on my menu Your Standings

Here I Begin:

It is hard to jot down a paragraph this way. I will still try for it. I am trying to study from today morning. Indian constitution is too long and tough. I got through it last night though and now I am studying contracts law. I am fond of contracts law. It is amazing and good.
I am lazing a bit now and thus, using this application to pass hours. Thus, this paragraph writing is amusing as of now. My mom is making potato curry and chapatti for lunch. Subhanallah, It is too hot in my city. My room is still cool as I shut all doors and windows today at noon. I am so thankful Allah for millions of gifts and our AC. Alhamdulillah, for all good. Drinking liquids is fun nowadays. I was making mango lassi and it was yummy. You must try it too. It is good for our body and mango is all around bazaars. Curd too is commonly found. Just whip mango pulp, cardamon, half a cup milk and curd. So cool! What I am writing is so random. I am laughing at my own paragraph. It won’t shock us if you shut and block this post half way through it. Haha. My hair is black and sky is…. Oops! I wish it rains soon. Sight from my window is truly blissful. Birds chirping around. Just not using ‘that thing’ is disturbing my mind so much! I cannot stop chuckling. I truly cannot jot down anything now. My mind is now in a block and this is a mind boggling task. Alas, I stop at this point. Allahuakbar, Thank you!

My nominations are as follows:

1) The Happy Lifeaholic
2) Food Abuse
3) The Revert Miyabhai
4) Sister Fatmawaty
5) Sisterofislam30

6) Khamosh Dhadkanen

Looking forward to your posts!! Phew am done.

Liebster Again! :-)

Yay yay yay!  Liebster it is again. My dear friend, sister and co-blogger Shaqeena Rahim has nominated this one for me. Her blog is cool and made with absolute love. She is a fashion stylist and has a lot to share with you! Thank you so much for nominating me 🙂

I am overwhelmed and very excited! As I have told a number of times, I enjoy getting nominated so this one too has made me very happy.

The Official Rules Of The Liebster Award

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

1. thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.

2. display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)

3. answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.

4. provide 11 random facts about yourself.

5. nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)

6. create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.

7. list these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:

8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

Why did you start blogging?

Out of complete boredom. College was over, was yet to find work, was scared , timid and had nothing to do. That’s how I penned down my first post. The response overwhelmed me and slowly I jotted down successive posts and published them. As time passed, I started enjoying it and now I blog seriously! 😀

What is your dream career?

Maybe doing something related to speaking and writing. Getting into dawah work or teaching deen. Before that of course I wish to perfect my knowledge of Islam. Maybe one day publish a book in shaa Allah.

Who is your inspiration?

These questions are making me think! I think the stories of sahabas inspire me a lot. The love they held for the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and their commitment towards Islam.

What would your dream writing office look like?
Wow that is a good question. Now that I sit and imagine. It is a flawless white room, (I would prefer it to be a study in my own house) with a lot of books arranged neatly in shelves. There is huge glass door that my table faces which opens into a beautiful unending green woods. It is a cool and airy room. A huge laptop/ desktop and a couple of notepads on the table.

Do you prefer to write in the morning, or at night?

I write whenever I am bored to the core! Haha. Most of my posts are a product of no work in office! I used to have so much time to think! After I get something to write, I used to simply laze in my workstation, type it out and post it.

Now since I am home, I type some at night before sleeping and some in the day when am done with my chores!

What is your favorite dessert?

I have a crazy sweet tooth. My friends actually bribe with sweets me to do errands! 😉 *embarrassed*  I crave for all Indian sweets. Especially the ones that are milk based. So we have ras malai, halwas, gulab jamuns, jalebi, chamcham, rasgulla, kheer, kalakandh etc.!

Trust me there are at least 50 more in the list which I am unable to remember!

If you could pick up and move anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Mecca Mecca Mecca! After that… Take me for an African wildlife Safari!

What is your guilty pleasure?

Food and sleep. I am a sleepaholic. I can sleep too much!

High heels or flat shoe?

Medium wedges.

If you were to be a color, what color would you be?

I would be a rainbow! 😀

And why?

When I wish, wish large! Why choose 1 when there are so many. I love colours
Especially bright and vibrant shades. They simply make you happy. So whether it is walls, curtains, sheets or clothes I like it bright and simple.

Describe your style in 3 words.

SIMPLE       with a smile….

Amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed answering them. Now I have to tell 11 random facts about myself. They are going to be really random. So much that as I am typing this statement, I do not know what my first fact should be. Here we go…..

1) I ……. (5minutes passed)

I am enjoying being off work, at home and being lazy.

2) I surprise myself each time I write an emotional blog. My friends who know me personally wonder what part of me writes them. I am funnier, happier and wittier than what my blog represents me to be. Or so I believe (Alhamdulillah)

3) I am in search of the perfect groom. 😛  though I am not really looking

4) I have no clue about where life is going and what I want in life. The most zombie headed person I am I guess. Neither do I have a firm plan. Yes I am 23 and clueless

5) I have a handful of friends whom I love and cherish.

6) I eat according to my whims. I hate it when I want to eat less, there are eyes staring my platter to comment that I am dieting. Also I hate it when I reach out for that butter naan and there’s a gasp about me having so much butter! The one time I ate triple the quantity biryani in office, it was news amongst my peers for a long time. Ha ha. I just wish that people let me eat without comments. :-/ haha. Wish I could be invisible while eating.

7) I spend a lot of time on my phone. Sometimes it is excess. Many are mistaken that I am WhatsApp/ Chatting all the time. The fact is most of the time I am either reading something (a blog, an islamic ruling, a story, a problem, a research, an indian law, self help pages, a story, a joke etc.) or I am writing something.

8) I cannot bear heat at all. I dislike summers to the core. That’s why I like being indoors all afternoon and cannot survive without a high speed fan 24×7. I keep the fan on even in winters!

9) I love staring outside my window. Just randomly for long.

10) I was acting like my mom today afternoon and annoying her. Reiterating her statements to her 😀 geeeee! “Offo.. 60 years old you are almost and still one plate you cannot keep properly!”

She tells this to me, “offfooo 25 year old you are now and one work you cannot do. I am tired of you!”. Haha. She could not suppress her laughter. Please note the addition of 2 years in age. I don’t understand why she does that.

11) I am more of a countryside person than a city person

Random facts!

1) The one thing that you wish to achieve in your life? What is stopping you from getting it?

2) Who is the person closest to your heart and what is that one quality in him/her that you love the most? (Living person preferably)

3) One skill you wish you had and one thing you already have in yourself that you are proud of.

4) Do you consider yourself spiritual or moderately spiritual or not spiritual?

5) Your favourite blogger and why? You may name two so that I fit in too 😉

6) One thing about your country that you would like to change.

7) Your thought of an ideal life in this dunya.

8) Would you forgive someone who has immensely hurt you in exchange for him/ her being your neighbour in jannah?

9) The three most beautiful names that you have heard.

10) What is the genre you like to read?

11) The One question you hate answering. 😉

Congratulations! I look forward to your answers. Please accept and notify me when you post your Liebster!

Blog Tour Award: On Creative Process

Alhamdulillah! I consider myself so privileged to have been nominated for the Blog Tour Award by our dearest Story Teller. Thank you so much. You’re indeed one of my favourite bloggers 🙂

Pass on the tour on up to four other bloggers. Give them the rules and a Specific Monday to post. Answer your questions about your creative process which lets other bloggers and visitors know what inspires you to do what you do. Compose a one-time post on a Specific Monday (date given from your nominator)

Ummm.. I must admit I am guilty of missing the Monday I was allotted. It completely slipped off my mind until a few days back when I remembered that I have to respond to my nomination. So am a week late and will accept any punishment allotted by my nominator ((holding ears))!

THE QUESTIONS…and my answers !

1. What am I working on at the moment?
As of now, I am working on a partly insprired and partly fictional series called as “The Flip Side”. The concept behind this is how many belonging to the muslim society, act as a barrier for some who wish to be practising. How not only non-muslims, but even muslims equate “being practising” to “being extremist”. The effect such an attitude has on the practising ones (especially the youth).

2. How does my work differ from other’s in my genre?

Aha! Sounds like I must advertise myself. Well, honestly, I have no idea. I haven’t categorized my blog belonging to any genre yet. Even though I started with the motive of writing my personal experiences but as time passed I also started posting fiction, stories of other muslims, inspirational events, islamic posts etc.

The background is always Islam and through my blogs I try to reflect on our link with our Maker.  Alhamdulillah, nevertheless there are so many bloggers who write on similar lines and I believe all of us just intend to touch the heart of that one soul who is in need of some motivation or inspiration.

3. Why do I write and create what I do?

Haha. I just realised (once again) that I speak too much and end up blabbering off the topic. I answered this in the previous question.

To help and inspire a few. Even if one soul is soothed, my purpose is accomplished. Also, whatever I write is usually something that has been on my mind for some reason or the other- either it is making me happy or something is disturbing me. So I frame a tale around it and pen it 🙂

4. How does my writing and creative process work?

From the things I hear and read about Islam. Certain good things that Qur’an and Sunnahs preach..and certain biddahs, matters of ignorance and popular unislamic cultural practices that have seeped in and disturb me. Inspirations and real life learnings. Things that make me question, “why?”  and Everything that help me pave a way to Allah.

Now, it is my turn to nominate up to four bloggers for this award. Here we go-

1) The Revert Miyabhai: : my friend, love of my life and sister ❤

2) Hoor_ain : undoubtedly one of the best bloggers I have come across. My habibty and sister through all ups and downs :-*

3) Bilal Vohra: because this blog is amazing and deals with food! 🙂

4) Noorjaved91: a beautiful and inspiring blog. A blog which will bring you a step closer to Allah. Alhamdulillah. 😀

The Monday for submission is April 14th. Or you may submit whenever you want! Haha.

Looking forward to your replies. Do notify me!

Wooohoooooooo! Another Liebster 🙂 Though officially I am no more qualified for Liebster awards (since it is for those who have lesser then 200 followers), yet since I love being nominated I will gladly accept this nomination from brother Bilal. His is a delicious blog dedicated entirely to food and carries so much goodness (or foodness)! Please do visit his blog here. Thank  you for nominating me. I am humbled 🙂

Yipee! Liebster again 😀

2) How long have you been blogging and why?

Ummm..7 months. Just like that.

9 out of 10days I am going through writer’s block. Alhamdulillah, that 1 day when I suddenly get a good story, inspiration or experience to write about!

4) Top 5 things on your bucket-list ?

As of now there’s just multiple things leading to one goal- set my life as a muslimah! :-/  In Shaa Allah.

5) How do you connect to the one in mirror?

Very well. She has been with me through all my ups and downs! 😀

Alhamdulillah, I believe he is doing a great job. It is my earnest request to all of you to please visit his blog and have a read. The link to his blog is here

So this award is esentially to encourage bloggers, especially the new ones or “small scale bloggers”, if I may use this term.

Now, it is my turn to answer the brother’s questions

2. Which book are you currently reading?
Fundamentals of Tawheed by Dr. Bilal Philips.

3. How do you react to criticism?

Well, deep within one spot of me feels defensive and I am thinking, ‘I did it because so and so.’ Or ‘you are not understanding my situation’. Nevertheless, I do not speak it out since I know it is my nafs. That’s because I am Insaan and I am weak.

However, if someone is correcting me and I know that he is correct, I keep mum, accept it and ask Allah to guide me and forgive me. Because it is an advice for my own good! Muslims are supposed to be each other’s mirror!

4. By the end of today what do you want to have changed about yourself?

To become more patient and kind with people. In shaa Allah

5. What’s your favorite quote?

It is always In Shaa Allah

7. Say, if you were to write a book, what would it be about?

Islam! Maybe a translation of the noble Qur’an in every Indian language without arabic font next to it, so that the words of Allah subhanah wa ta’ala reaches everyone! In shaa Allah.

8. Ever hit a writer’s block? How did you get over it?

I do. So many times. I don’t bother about it much. As time passes, I eventually find the right words for the right story. Alhamdulillah.

9. What’s the most annoying trait among people in your country?

Paganism. Superstitions..
